Like many in our hobby, as a young lad I used to gaze in disbelief at the hallowed 'Eavy Metal pages in White Dwarf</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Decades of painting later, I can now churn out pretty neat single models. Of course we have lots of tools that weren't available back then, and that can get you pretty far in a short amount of time. But I will probably never be one who spends days (weeks? months?) painting a single model. I don't have the attention span, the time or the willpower to do that. What I am is a painter of units. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And here is one such unit that I have recently completed. Ye Olde Orc Crossbows. They are really awesome models, and I have completed 10 more for a total of 20 models in the unit. They ain't no Mike McVey paint job, but they don't need to be either when seen as a coherent(?) mob on the tabletop.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Q4YMo4vi1M_BghwO28XOG53FzxhYrAQu67xAkVRgsiDrAmygzQsWYazMrdLKf2P7dupxyGKbyUDgrbHW4vgbBRFk7EkKmmh7xbPpr1r0-8d1Xpjb51DN7UhGira0di2J8VWM8owRwLKz/s6000/DSC_1463.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1Q4YMo4vi1M_BghwO28XOG53FzxhYrAQu67xAkVRgsiDrAmygzQsWYazMrdLKf2P7dupxyGKbyUDgrbHW4vgbBRFk7EkKmmh7xbPpr1r0-8d1Xpjb51DN7UhGira0di2J8VWM8owRwLKz/s320/DSC_1463.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cOqbLQ2-BB3axiU-_Ed9BfQn7NnoyNFop9d_s4k2RsM3ZRI9OdmJStdbNVVExtziru5jPz0kjbAic8G3W1pBvPRwykmQ9OLqB1jXOHhBVx0B3j2N1_1IZ9_UJi-n3zCw_plNIwdwoU1f/s6000/DSC_1464.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2cOqbLQ2-BB3axiU-_Ed9BfQn7NnoyNFop9d_s4k2RsM3ZRI9OdmJStdbNVVExtziru5jPz0kjbAic8G3W1pBvPRwykmQ9OLqB1jXOHhBVx0B3j2N1_1IZ9_UJi-n3zCw_plNIwdwoU1f/s320/DSC_1464.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglI8U6FhC_LmXBpe_yZwISjLipOb0PFDrqOedj7IXL6nVrxqsn7gyYkxOd00phdTemH5H8b_7_ju05-tzIoL4joKZqHoPgMmYNaKWD5ABffY7lpipJTEvU0BsQvMZD0zRO1ExReTHFJRef/s6000/DSC_1465.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglI8U6FhC_LmXBpe_yZwISjLipOb0PFDrqOedj7IXL6nVrxqsn7gyYkxOd00phdTemH5H8b_7_ju05-tzIoL4joKZqHoPgMmYNaKWD5ABffY7lpipJTEvU0BsQvMZD0zRO1ExReTHFJRef/s320/DSC_1465.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /> Until next time, happy painting.<p></p>Anthony Bohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00430040709125380015noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2993787916932801913.post-30356761139956865822022-06-18T21:11:00.015-04:002022-11-26T10:19:17.487-05:00Back-logged Vampire Counts<p></p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLHyvlnCPw3mpnVzpf6S8KCzEk4NWjPjIEOvnoN4qkjyauWQjcmdl--Zze8igQ644vUwiJT8w-3AcWdYARNZq1I8f7UmlOuO-pQl_6cg-P0AsJMtHuxSpVIaKYp54A11oB6K6UQsF-hsAfBjw_n0bWCR_bmlASGIRjievWHqmjNqEj6vXXfIyTlPmkrg/s640/Terror%20of%20the%20Lichemaster%20by%20Ian%20Miller.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="436" data-original-width="640" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLHyvlnCPw3mpnVzpf6S8KCzEk4NWjPjIEOvnoN4qkjyauWQjcmdl--Zze8igQ644vUwiJT8w-3AcWdYARNZq1I8f7UmlOuO-pQl_6cg-P0AsJMtHuxSpVIaKYp54A11oB6K6UQsF-hsAfBjw_n0bWCR_bmlASGIRjievWHqmjNqEj6vXXfIyTlPmkrg/w640-h436/Terror%20of%20the%20Lichemaster%20by%20Ian%20Miller.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ian Miller, Spring 1987 Citadel Journal</td></tr></tbody></table><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">These are a few older pictures that I forgot to post. Here is a shot of a Death Company unit I finished recently. They are the old plastic RBT01 models, which I got second hand and restored.</p><p>They are not optimally armed, I’m sure, but I like the way the painting turned out. I got lots of freehand on these guys, on the right shoulder and left knee (which you cannot see that well in this picture).</p><p>The bases are from necromunda, and match the rest of the basing for this army. They needed some extensive work - mold line removal and stripping of paint, but I thought that this was well deserved given how difficult these models have become to find.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguNNkiv7MaI4L7CssFmZGUg5oIqRLv-PKleqsulL6SURKxQxMPn__ddpIxNm1hjsTLrwfp2pxplt0bdySkW66heu04vMuQ6JdroNOR2BqBfptpmNLooaBmxlJ4SqT2NxdageeZqTS_LQF4afIzBmH2IhmgPdFZZiJyiJYJdcE3OSEb8sMx7HsKkbz7jA=s6000" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEguNNkiv7MaI4L7CssFmZGUg5oIqRLv-PKleqsulL6SURKxQxMPn__ddpIxNm1hjsTLrwfp2pxplt0bdySkW66heu04vMuQ6JdroNOR2BqBfptpmNLooaBmxlJ4SqT2NxdageeZqTS_LQF4afIzBmH2IhmgPdFZZiJyiJYJdcE3OSEb8sMx7HsKkbz7jA=w400-h266" width="400" /></a></div><br /> I decided to paint them up as blood angels, to complement the <a href="https://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2021/07/first-edition-space-hulk.html" target="_blank">terminators from Space Hulk</a>. Given that second edition 40k has such a low model count, with this second squad I was well on my way to having an army for my <a href="https://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/search/label/Ork" target="_blank">Space Orks</a> to battle against.<p></p><div>I quite like the way that they turned out. I had some old blood angels space marine transfers that I was going to use for the shoulder pads, but given their age they were very brittle and in the end I decided to freehand the chapter symbols. They're not perfect but a lot more satisfying and actually didn't take as long to do as I thought they would.</div><div><br /></div><div>That's all for now. I’ve been recently rebasing my 40k orks to 32mm desert-themed bases, to match the rest of my army. Pictures of the old basing scheme can be found <a href="http://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2017/10/freebooterz-for-orktober.html?m=1" target="_blank">here</a>, although the gang has multiplied somewhat since those formatory days :)</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; I've been blown away by the digital sculpts produced by Lost Kingdom Miniatures, especially their large monsters. I still remember buying the box from one of the British department stores (maybe Marks and Spencer). I was probably around nine at the time, and my mom allowed me to buy it for Christmas. I did a right botch job on the paint, but I didn't exactly have the premier tools (or skills) as a nine year-old. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The box and minis have disappeared in the mists of time, although I was lucky enough to pick up a complete first edition box (in relatively good condition) a few years ago. As I now have young kids of my own, I plan to entice them into the hobby with this classic game. To strengthen the appeal, I have painted the set in classic colors. I couldn't bring myself, however, to paint the original plastic terminators from the box (even nostalgia was not powerful enough to compel me to paint those models!). Instead, I painted the metal terminators that came in their own box, even though I never owned those as a kid. I hope you enjoy the pictures and some memories of your own.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; The ones with the all-metal horses. The details on the horses is not very crisp, but I like the bulkiness of the models and the fact that they are so unique. This is a model that I picked up at a local convention. It's a jabberwock that is, remarkably, still available from <a href="https://ironwindmetals.com/index.php/component/hikashop/product/fantasy-rpg-01-095">Iron Wind Metals</a> for a very reasonable price. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT4dCqolRfM-VovrO4IsRMUSrarRQGwaJqA7WtcGSUaYTRBcR0syV5Q8cPbYWfirhoGJpw3Vd5xDjZdlU-xd6Z15y8yG_iQ1YySNUQFrpvIZI9dBBltfh3RiPbxXgwoQ3gh_LacmCfNAWq/s6000/DSC_1468.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4000" data-original-width="6000" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgT4dCqolRfM-VovrO4IsRMUSrarRQGwaJqA7WtcGSUaYTRBcR0syV5Q8cPbYWfirhoGJpw3Vd5xDjZdlU-xd6Z15y8yG_iQ1YySNUQFrpvIZI9dBBltfh3RiPbxXgwoQ3gh_LacmCfNAWq/w400-h266/DSC_1468.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><p><br /></p> He sat primed in the cabinet for a while, since I really couldn't decide on a color scheme. I think that I have found a recipe that I like for green skin but, as a result of applying to so many models, I am getting quite burnt out by painting so many of the green buggers.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I’ve decided to interject my long-burn greenskin projects with some more fun (and, more importantly, <i>varied</i>) painting projects. This is one such project, which has been sitting in my pile of shame for quite a few months</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I was quite bummed when GW eliminated the bloodlines. However, prior to these models I had not yet painted any Lahmian or Necrarch vampires. Time to change that!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcgATr0-ZnynxJUu8K-QYp2cTK8WRBj6AT3PoZC6PtdmSvAEEERMPJwZytoPhmQ_z-qO39aGrqLkvzHStifO3P00YLlc63y87A2z2l6ZR5ts2E22KJ1vQVeorajaRKcRPBW-pjfPbP9JiI/s1493/IMG_6561.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="953" data-original-width="1493" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcgATr0-ZnynxJUu8K-QYp2cTK8WRBj6AT3PoZC6PtdmSvAEEERMPJwZytoPhmQ_z-qO39aGrqLkvzHStifO3P00YLlc63y87A2z2l6ZR5ts2E22KJ1vQVeorajaRKcRPBW-pjfPbP9JiI/s640/IMG_6561.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div>Both of these models are, i’m guessing, the same model on foot and mounted. Given that he is actually a not-Tomb-Kings (ie, Ossiarch Bonereapers) model, I’m not sure how he would fit in with respect to Warhammer game play. Perhaps I could proxy him as some other Tomb King unit. In truth this does not concern me much since I would have bought this model either way just for the pleasure of painting it. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">While I am a lover of old lead models, this plastic model is a beauty. However, I did try to take my time with this one (at least by my standards). I made him in sub-assemblies and painted him with my modified version of Wappel’s ‘Shaded Basecoat’. I honestly cannot remember how long I spent painting this model, but it was less than 30h for sure.</div><div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUO_ejV5nS_MOsKkw72WCB7db2GmdOZ1b_MUxgAV8xgThy_LShyvn_ngXnfKXWamyulf__8TTpBl54a6xNwG7q-Cm7-AGUqpObvnPaCFk90OlT0fAN2tstla0-NjJ6ppEABh3GzscyKJfX/s1252/IMG_6567.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1071" data-original-width="1252" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhUO_ejV5nS_MOsKkw72WCB7db2GmdOZ1b_MUxgAV8xgThy_LShyvn_ngXnfKXWamyulf__8TTpBl54a6xNwG7q-Cm7-AGUqpObvnPaCFk90OlT0fAN2tstla0-NjJ6ppEABh3GzscyKJfX/s640/IMG_6567.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>I’m quite pleased with how he turned out, and he fits in with the general color scheme of my <a href="https://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2019/12/tomb-kings-army-re-based.html?m=1" target="_blank">tomb kings</a> while also allowing me to take the highlights a couple of stages higher.</div><div><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSUF6Avtz4nSQ1dLFw5zMk6F1uI1xo2dU5WRLAmtSOpJsxgjpReVgHxwwGCRB-7DRykDtSVEvfXbbMnPfnHwH_1EqXY8x770nND_KHRKYGmytuE5Lpmoa7jQ54P02LcvOtQVZIK3ywp_4/s1285/IMG_6568.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><strike><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgpSUF6Avtz4nSQ1dLFw5zMk6F1uI1xo2dU5WRLAmtSOpJsxgjpReVgHxwwGCRB-7DRykDtSVEvfXbbMnPfnHwH_1EqXY8x770nND_KHRKYGmytuE5Lpmoa7jQ54P02LcvOtQVZIK3ywp_4/s640/IMG_6568.JPG" width="640" /></strike></a></div><div><br /></div>I hope you enjoy the paint job. One of the reasons I love painting and collecting models from this era is the sheer diversity of sculpts. I quite enjoyed tracking down some of these models just for the fun of painting them. Just like I’m sure many people do, I paint models like these as a ‘reward’ to myself in between more boring painting projects. Helps to maintain enthusiasm and prevent burnout, at least for me</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvojqAi6kxtyeqTEBqzT3oOPJy_RFgnhA-kaaBw19tUJ-Qc6HshBViJXHsiURd_fr8K1eMxi8mrUHSX72zhyphenhyphenP3qEG-qoj259XP_tAELDWmJYxc97hvuyHIBiMBW8aifVyFHDKS8pX1PJXB/s1620/IMG_6330.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="796" data-original-width="1620" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvojqAi6kxtyeqTEBqzT3oOPJy_RFgnhA-kaaBw19tUJ-Qc6HshBViJXHsiURd_fr8K1eMxi8mrUHSX72zhyphenhyphenP3qEG-qoj259XP_tAELDWmJYxc97hvuyHIBiMBW8aifVyFHDKS8pX1PJXB/s640/IMG_6330.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjvFuUvHEsuJ78DbDW7mXqd-m0kVFCyUwAbRh6XTpK-M0NoPRUDX__lyfuKJgdaxJv88w101rke-33279fNSf62RazX_plUfic9Qi1UUgK_pLD5J3UlABiIzQF3Vbf-IPuwGzHcsddlBA_/s1620/IMG_6331.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="762" data-original-width="1620" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjvFuUvHEsuJ78DbDW7mXqd-m0kVFCyUwAbRh6XTpK-M0NoPRUDX__lyfuKJgdaxJv88w101rke-33279fNSf62RazX_plUfic9Qi1UUgK_pLD5J3UlABiIzQF3Vbf-IPuwGzHcsddlBA_/s640/IMG_6331.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOxx6AgKaWOQNinfz-u3AHYwlJFUHU7ggYb230yPuZZ328cc9yLrnGk2Lw24rJS4EwfyNDLbs9ICaGUrN_0yk87uLDPOpKG_U-4KpJBZf6VY3pKwhNoW24s3po2rSXanyNMfoJGFCYsbXb/s1361/IMG_6323.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="907" data-original-width="1361" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOxx6AgKaWOQNinfz-u3AHYwlJFUHU7ggYb230yPuZZ328cc9yLrnGk2Lw24rJS4EwfyNDLbs9ICaGUrN_0yk87uLDPOpKG_U-4KpJBZf6VY3pKwhNoW24s3po2rSXanyNMfoJGFCYsbXb/s640/IMG_6323.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhYPwxXNJkMdQHnlOLi46WSh1LSVpKkbQBZsScncVZ8ce3AcxUwYK7PcTtCgdupt4EuTOy82SpH9fH2pnMXWUAPUVU6tO6GSkRnkJVokDxQjNx_53V-zUXel-jwAD3etvTEFv6Es7vNsp/s1433/IMG_6324.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="956" data-original-width="1433" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQhYPwxXNJkMdQHnlOLi46WSh1LSVpKkbQBZsScncVZ8ce3AcxUwYK7PcTtCgdupt4EuTOy82SpH9fH2pnMXWUAPUVU6tO6GSkRnkJVokDxQjNx_53V-zUXel-jwAD3etvTEFv6Es7vNsp/s640/IMG_6324.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /><p></p><div>Until next time, happy painting!</div>Anthony Bohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00430040709125380015noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2993787916932801913.post-61476088006117350912020-09-07T20:50:00.001-04:002020-09-07T20:50:08.077-04:00Night Goblin elected officials<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">At the moment, there is a lot of terrain on my painting table. One thing that I have always struggled with is painting terrain. I know that I am not alone in this. As a painter, it seems a lot more exciting and engaging to interpret a miniature by using colors to build character and to tell a story. For me, at least, this is part of what drives me to finish painting a miniature especially when you are tired and want it to be done already. And this is, I think, part of what makes terrain painting somewhat of a chore. The ability to tell a story by using terrain is far more limited, as is our ability to 'relate' to it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I've been breaking up the monotony of painting terrain by taking breaks to paint characters such as the three pictured below. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix5oQIiVBI9_xMgTcmi7s1H4k65gNmRY95Ay1Dg7ktcNy9HFcmCxHXM610XCYEJpezHbQ971_RctkzSJXACxnmcOwfcZpFCE6qftGt0Hm3A8JpEpJ8G6ZK3H3OvvlkYl7uCA0ANhjubTHD/s1189/IMG_6563.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1039" data-original-width="1189" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEix5oQIiVBI9_xMgTcmi7s1H4k65gNmRY95Ay1Dg7ktcNy9HFcmCxHXM610XCYEJpezHbQ971_RctkzSJXACxnmcOwfcZpFCE6qftGt0Hm3A8JpEpJ8G6ZK3H3OvvlkYl7uCA0ANhjubTHD/s640/IMG_6563.JPG" width="640" /></a></div> <p></p><div>These will be joining my horde of <a href="https://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2020/02/night-goblins.html">night goblins</a>. I'm tempted to run really big blocks of the goblins, although I have painted plenty of extra fanatics and command groups to let me break them up into smaller units, should I choose to do so. </div><div><br /></div><div>With these three done, I'm very close to painting my entire contingent of Kev Adams night goblins. Just 6 more squig hoppers and one more shaman, and I will be done. </div><div><br /></div><div>Until next time, happy painting! </div>Anthony Bohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00430040709125380015noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2993787916932801913.post-66981162742786621302020-08-26T20:31:00.003-04:002020-08-26T20:31:35.338-04:00Forest goblins with spears<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">It has taken me quite a while to get a hold of all 20 forest goblins with spears to form a unit, but I have finally gotten there. I painted these guys in two groups of 10, with a color scheme to match the <a href="http://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2020/01/the-forest-goblins-are-here.html">other forest goblins</a> that I have been working on. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">No doubt that this has been a slow-burn project, although I anticipated this from the very beginning. In fact, the forest goblins are the second 'phase' of my 4th/5th edition O&G army based on Kev Adams' wonderful sculpts. The first phase was my my <a href="http://theleadcollector.blogspot.com/2020/02/night-goblins.html">night goblin contingent </a> which is now almost complete, although it has been 3 years in the making. But I did get some of the models painted and based. I have a bunch more assembled and primed, but the painting mojo is very week at the moment</div><div><br />

The painting mojo has really been dwindling lately. However, I did manage to hammer this guy out a few weeks ago (I know...). I've always been a huge fan of this model, so much so that I decided to buy him and paint him even though he is finecast. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div><br /></div>I'm not a big fan of painting humans. However, this model just oozes character and I was willing to make an exception! I used contrast paints to establish the initial lights/darks on the models, and then a mixture of contrast paints and cool/warm lights to establish the highlights. I'm quite pleased at how he turned out, and he actually painted up pretty quickly. Too bad the pictures are a little blurry. I've made my peace with posting these, because Sigmar knows it would be another few months before I motivate myself to take new ones. <div><br />
